The production and functionality of the chopping block
Solid walnut wood is ideal for cutting boards. It's hard enough for cutting, but at the same time protects your knife blades and kills germs. The “Hannibal” chopping block is made from selected end-grain wood, which creates a particularly beautiful surface. The material is extremely hard and durable. The wood fibers are only divided by the knife blades and not cut. This means the surface remains attractive over a long period of time.
For the surface treatment we use food-safe wood oil, which protects the wood and gives it its elegant color. Walnut wood has a natural antibacterial effect due to the tannin it contains. This makes it ideal for cutting boards.
Our cubes made of end grain are glued together precisely. This makes the chopping block particularly robust, as the gluing gives the wood a certain flexibility, thereby minimizing deformation and cracking. Of course, we only use food-safe glue. The »Hannibal« chopping block is therefore a companion that you can rely on for decades."
